The maker's mark
A small symbol with great significance
On virtually every piece of jewelry Poelie creates, you’ll find her own maker’s mark alongside the fineness mark. This small stamp may be only a few millimeters in size, but it tells an important story: it shows that the piece was crafted by Poelie or made under her supervision.
Poelie’s maker’s mark is officially registered and unique. You can think of it as her personal signature in precious metal. For her, it is much more than a legal requirement; it stands for craftsmanship, quality, and the care with which she designs and creates each piece of jewelry.
Why a maker's mark?
In the Netherlands, the Hallmarking Act applies to gold, silver, and platinum jewelry that meets a legally specified weight threshold. Jewelry subject to this law is inspected by an independent hallmarking office. Upon approval, it is stamped with both the fineness mark and Poelie’s maker’s mark. Together, these marks confirm that the jewelry meets legal requirements and contains the correct percentage of precious metal.
Almost invisible, but always present
The maker's mark is usually engraved on the inside of a ring or in an inconspicuous spot on a pendant, bracelet, or other piece of jewelry. It is intentionally small and subtle, but its significance is great.
